Les Sorciers Perdus presents Mark Tipton’s new score for the 1919 German Expressionist film, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.” Commonly referred as the first true horror film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari revolutionized set design, introduced the ‘twist ending’ and has influenced generations of filmmakers from Stanley Kubrick to Tim Burton. Tipton’s 74-minute score is written for an amplified sextet including trumpet with harmonizer, amplified cello with effects, synthesizer, electric guitar, bass, and drums.Musically, it draws from a wide range of genres, including twelve tone music, jazz, prog rock, pop and the avant-garde.
