SOLD OUT!

Les Sorciers Perdus return to David & Regine Whittlesey’s acclaimed house-concert series in Bowdoinham for the premiere of several brand-new silent film scores by Mark (see below).  This is a pot-luck followed by a screening of the films with live music in a cozy, friendly atmosphere!

Buster Keaton: “Cops” (1922) – Cops” centers around a clever, not-so-professional furniture moving scenario, and is chock full of goofy gags, culminating in a riveting chase sequence!  This zany Keaton comedy short – also starring Virginia Fox and Joe Roberts – is universally considered to be one of his very best!  [18min.]

Marion Davies: “The Patsy” (1928) – Marion Davies’ biggest hit of her career, “The Patsy” is a light-hearted romantic comedy also starring Marie Dressler, Orville Caldwell, Dell Henderson, Jane Winton, and Lawrence Gray, and directed by the legendary King Vidor, (The Big Parade, The Crowd).  Pat Harrington (Davies) is the “patsy” (fool) in her family, who plays second fiddle to her sister (Winton) until she learns how to get some real personality!  Featuring an extended scene where Davies impersonates silent cinema divas Lillian Gish, Mae Murray, and Pola Negri, “The Patsy” is pure cinema gold, featuring a strong female lead and a host of delightful surprises!  [77min.]

Les Sorciers Perdus is: Mark Tipton – trumpet & keyboard, Ryan Blotnick – guitar, Tyler Heydolph – bass, and Beau Lisy – drums.  LSP has performed over 25 silent film scores by Mark, including “7th Heaven” (1927) at MIFF 2018, “Sunrise” (1927) at MIFF 2017, “The Phantom Carriage” (1921) at The Grand, “Nosferatu” (1922) at the 1932 Criterion Theatre, “Robin Hood” (1922) at The Strand Theatre, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” (1920) at SPACE Gallery, and “Metropolis” (1927) at the Colonial Theater.  The group released an album of original jazz in 2017 titled “Alchemist’s Dream,” and will be back in the studio in 2019.
