Rigoletto is Giuseppe Verdi’s phenomenal operatic masterpiece – a dark and tragic tale of intrigue, deception, seduction and murder.
The story revolves around the womanizing Duke of Mantua, his court jester, Rigoletto, and Rigoletto’s beauttiful daughter, Gilda, as all caught in a curse that leads to the heartbreaking conclusion.
PORTopera Artistic Director, Dona D. Vaughn, sets the opera in early 20th century America in a spectacular production, featuring some of the worlds’s leading opera stars. Rigoletto will be conducted by Maestro Stephen Lord. Among the beautiful classics contained in Rigoletto, “La Donna e Mobile,” is one of the world’s most widely recognized arias. The opera will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.
