Les Sorciers Perdus and friends present the seventh installment of “the gravity sessions,” featuring an evening of music, poetry, visual art, and video art at the Apohadion Theatre – 107 Hanover St., Portland, Maine. Co-founded by trumpeter/composer Mark Tipton and poet Gil Helmick, the gravity sessions is a monthly series that brings together musicians, poets, dancers, visual / video artists, and sound sculpture / experimental / performance artists once a month in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood. Since its inception in November 2017, the gravity sessions has presented a host of diverse regional and national artists, and has drawn enthusiastic, capacity audiences.
Featured artists for May 12th include: BIG WORLD (John McCain – guitar, John Clark – electric bass & Andrew Roseman – drums), Les Sorciers Perdus (Mark Tipton – trumpet, Ryan Blotnick – guitar, Tyler Heydolph – bass & Beau Lisy – drums), poets Gordon Lang and Gil Helmick, visual artist Rush Brown, and video artist Matt Ferrel.
The performance will include four sets: 8PM – Les Sorciers Perdus (LSP) with poet Gil Helmick; 8:30PM – poet Gordon Lang with LSP; (break); 9:15PM – BIG WORLD; 9:45PM collaborative pieces, including video art by Matt Ferrel. Throughout the evening visual artist Rush Brown will be capturing the performances live on his easel.
Admission is by a suggested donation of $10/person.
